Happy Holidays from AZ Handmade and Fire on the Mountain Galleries!
Per tradition, George Averbeck and his blown glass art will be featured the month of December! He has been making gorgeous ornaments and glasses leading into the holidays, especially in his Snowball motif with whimsical, swirling eddies of snow.

A long-time fixture in the Flagstaff community, George is beloved by locals and visitors alike. He has a long resume of shows and exhibits, and most recently his Dark Sky Series and Pluto Group were juried into the Night Vision exhibit at Sky Harbor Airport!

If you're traveling this holiday season, be sure to stop and see George's exquisite glass work alongside other Arizona artists - including Dawn Sutherland (we're proud that two of our artists were selected out of over 200 applicants from across the state)! The Night Vision exhibit can be found on Terminal 4, Level 3 and is pre-security so anyone can visit. It will be on display through May 26, 2024.

Holiday Events
November 24th and 25th, 10:00am-6:00pm - Slack Friday and Small Business Saturday
Come downtown and shop small! Everyone who makes a purchase at the gallery on these two days will be entered to win one of three blown glass Snowball hearts by George Averbeck! You can also start a Downtown Holiday Shopping Passport while you're in.

December 1st, 6:00-9:00pm - ArtWalk Featuring George Averbeck
George will be in the gallery, live music by Jimmy DeBlois, and lots of glass for gifting!

December 2nd, 12:00-3:00pm -
Snowball Glassblowing Demo with George Averbeck
Come to the Fire on the Mountain studio (324 W Birch Avenue) to see how George makes his magical Snowball ornaments!

December 2nd, 12:00-4:00 pm - Upcycled Bugs!
Paula and Bryan Cooperrider will be in the gallery making art and talking about how they create whimsical creatures out of things that would otherwise be thrown away.

December 9th, 12:00-4:00 pm - Jewelry Trunk Show
Four jewelers: Sarah Harms, Pam Gemin, Nancy Foo, and Rachel Richardson will be in the gallery with lots of jewelry. Working in a range of materials from forged steel to sterling silver to Czech glass to 14k gold, there's something for everyone!
Rachel will also have her equipment to attach permanent jewelry, so you can treat yourself or get a matching bracelet with someone special!

December 23rd, 12:00-4:00 pm - Live Painting by Linda Shearer-Whiting
Linda has hand-painted silk scarves, linocut holiday cards, and acrylic paintings in for the holidays. Come say hello to this lovely artist and enjoy a few minutes of serenity watching her paint as you wrap up your holiday shopping.

Get Those Orders In Early!
We have work from over twenty artists available through our online store. Some of the items are immediately available but others will need to be created by the artist once your order is placed, so please order early. We recommend all orders intended for Christmas be placed by December 16th, though we will continue to ship them out as quickly as possible after that! Of course, orders for George Averbeck must be placed by December 1st.

If you don't see what you're looking for online, call the gallery at 928-779-3790 so we can send you photos of stock and ship items to you!

And don't forget, we have extended hours for the holidays: Monday-Saturday 10:00am-6:00pm and Sunday 10:00am-5:00pm.
