Arizona Handmade Gallery has been representing Arizona artists in downtown Flagstaff for over twenty years. In 2010, husband and wife George Avebeck and Holly Gramm bought the gallery and combined it with George's glass blowing studio, Fire on the Mountain. It became both a showroom for George's glass art and some of the best artists across the state.
Arizona Handmade Gallery is dedicated to supporting and sharing the work created by artists in this special corner of the world where we live. We are proud to show art in a variety of mediums, including paintings, glass art, ceramic art, jewelry, woodcuts, lithograph and intaglio prints, fiber art, metal art, and mixed media pieces. The gallery was originally located at 13 N San Francisco St, but in late 2019, Native American art store and long-time Flagstaff staple, Puchteca, closed its doors after over 40 years in business. Holly and George, committed to keeping the arts an important part of downtown Flagstaff, decided to move their gallery into Puchteca's historic space. Arizona Handmade and Fire on the Mountain Galleries reopened across the street at 20 N San Francisco in February 2020.

JOIN US FOR ARTWALK
The First Friday of every month is ArtWalk! We stay open late and join other downtown businesses in a night of art and fun! We either feature a specific artist and host them for a meet-and-greet at the gallery, or invite all our artists to participate in a themed show!
Live musicians brighten the stores and streets, and hundreds of people gather for the event. Check out a map to see who is featured across downtown each month and mark First Friday ArtWalk on your calendar! |
MEET THE OWNERS
George Averbeck and Holly Gramm are longtime Flagstaff locals and both artists themselves! George has been blowing glass for over forty years, and before buying the gallery, Holly was a full-time painter doing interior design and murals.
They can often be found blowing glass at George's studio or out and about downtown. If you'd like to meet with Holly and George, give us a call and we'll set up an appointment! |
OUR MISSION
We like to think of this space as an art gallery with a deeper meaning. Here, we hope to ensure that the ancient tradition of creating fine art and crafts endures time. We offer our master artisans a market to share their art and crafts, and sell them in an environment that is ethical and conscious. Each piece of art was touched by the hand of the artist who created it.
WE THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING LOCAL ART!
We're a proud supporter of the Grand Canyon Wolf Recovery Project! See other local businesses that support this important effort in the Wolf Supporter Business Directory.
COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT THE GALLERY
Do you have more artwork besides what is listed in the online store?
Absolutely! If you don't see what you're looking for in our online store, please call us at 928-779-3790 or email us at [email protected]. Each piece of artwork is handmade and unique, and our in-store inventory is constantly changing as artists bring us new work! We are happy to process orders over the phone and will ship artwork anywhere!
Do your artists do custom work?
Most of our artists are happy to do custom work! If you are interested in having a custom piece made, please contact the gallery and speak with one of our staff members. They will take down the details of your request and contact the artist to see if they are interested in making your custom piece.
I'M AN ARTIST INTERESTED IN JOINING YOUR GALLERY. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Thank you for your interest in showing your art through the gallery! Generally we don't bring in new artists until space opens, but we're always accepting submissions. Please email us at [email protected] with information about you as an artist. Include images of the work which you would like considered; links to a website or social media are great, but you can attach images directly to the email as well. Include details such as medium(s), sizes, and expected retail prices. When space opens, the gallery's selection committee will review all the submissions we've received and reach out to artists who they feel would be a good fit.
Please note that Arizona Handmade Gallery is focused on displaying the work of Arizona artists. Therefore, we require that new artists be at least part-time Arizona residents.

IS ARIZONA HANDMADE GALLERY A CO-OP?
No, artists in Arizona Handmade Gallery are on consignment. It is a great opportunity for artists who cannot be part of a co-op but would like to show their work.
If you are interested in joining a co-op, we suggest that you look into the Artists' Gallery. It has been operating in downtown Flagstaff since 1992 and is just across the street from us!

Does the Gallery Buy Art?
Generally our artists are on consignment. Occasionally the gallery will buy artwork from local artists to sell in the gallery, but it is not the majority of our inventory. If you would like to sell artwork to the gallery, you can email images and prices of your work to [email protected] for review.
