Navajo Warrior Hat (Atsa Cha’h)
Navajo Warrior Hat (Atsa Cha’h) handmade by Navajo Artist, Matthew Kirk Tafoya
Approximately 8" X 6"
This is a traditional Navajo warrior style hat made from deer buckskin, beaver fur, and turkey tail feathers. These hats were once common among Navajo men during Navajo hegemony but faded out as dependency shaped Navajo realty after colonization and hundreds of years of war with three colonial sovereigns.
This style of hat would have been worn in the Fall and Winter to keep warm and look good.
