Raina Gentry

Born in Los Angeles, California in 1965. Raina's passion for art started early in life, but after high school was set aside for many years. In 1990 she moved to Arizona to attend Prescott College. She received her BA degree in Environmental Studies. After graduation Raina made her living as an outdoor instructor/guide, and taught rock climbing at Prescott College from 1996-2000.

It was in the year 2000 that she realized her true passion was art. Raina abruptly quit her job at the college and moved to Tucson to attend the University of Arizona. She received her degree in Art in 2002. Raina's artwork incorporates studies in printmaking, collage, painting and life drawing. Most of her work is mixed media, although Raina also creates larger pieces in oil on canvas.

Her work is a peek into the deeper recesses of her consciousness. It often reflects her thoughts and feelings about the many issues that concern her as a woman, as a liberal, and as a spiritual being. Raina uses the human form, and complex layering in her work to depict the beautiful, as well as the repulsive aspects of the world we live in.
